The protection of consumers in both countries is ensured by intensifying official cooperation between the Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO) and BAVG as well as scientific exchange with AGES experts. In this network, the professional qualifications of staff can be increased, the quality of scientific risk assessment strengthened and the opportunities for co-operation expanded.

The regular exchange of scientific information in the areas of food safety, animal health and consumer protection in online trade will be promoted, as will the joint use of data and coordination in risk communication. On the part of BAVG and FSVO, the coordination and exchange of information in internet controls, product warnings and official public relations work is seen as a benefit, especially in cross-border cases.

In addition to a professional exchange, the signing of the cooperation agreement on 12 May focused on common challenges associated with ensuring healthy and safe food for the population and animal health.
